For maximum cooling, it is most efficient to have the
blades 8 to 9 feet above the floor. It is recommended
to use an Hunter Ceiling Fan Extension Down Rod which
lowers your ceiling fan to this level above the floor.
Hunter ceiling fans use our 3/4” Extension Down
Rods for maximum Stability and Wobble-Free performance.
Most other brands of ceiling fans use 1/2” down
rods.
A general formula for calculating down rod
length for your Hunter Ceiling Fan is: ceiling height in
feet minus 9' = down rod length. This formula is based on
the fan-to-floor distance of 8 feet plus 1 foot for the
dimension of the fan. So if your ceiling height is 12 feet,
you need a 3 foot down rod for your ceiling fan in order
to properly position the ceiling fan 8 feet from the floor.
Most Hunter Ceiling Fans have unique Three Position
Mounting Systems. This
canopy may be described as Installer’s
Choice®, WobbleFree™,
EasyHang, and HandsFree™
or Three Position Mounting System.
This allows you to mount your Hunter Ceiling Fan
flush-to-ceiling for extra clearance, standard
ceiling fan hanging, or with a ceiling fan extension down
rod on Vaulted Ceilings
with a angle up to 34°!
See illustration below of the Hunter Fan Three Position
Mounting System:

In most cases, the canopy which comes with
your fan will be all that you need if you are mounting your
fan on the Slope of your Vault. However, if your
ceiling angle is especially steep and exceeds 34°
, you should purchase a Hunter
Ceiling Fan Angle Mount Accessory, which will
accommodate up to 45°
angles. The angle will increase as your installation
moves closer to the Peak of your vault.
